Discord access explained

Only the permissions
GangCore actually needs.

Every permission has a specific job. GangCore does not request administrator access and server owners remain in control of which roles, channels and commands it can use.

What each permission does

View Channels

Lets GangCore access the channels selected in the control panel and respond where its commands are used.

Send Messages

Used for command responses, scheduled roster posts, sticky messages and panel announcements.

Embed Links

Allows GangCore to display KOS events, war records, weeklies and other information as clear Discord cards.

Read Message History

Needed to find and update existing war records, beef lists, sticky messages and price-list posts.

Add Reactions

Allows GangCore to add the attendance reactions used by KOS events, weeklies and roster calls.

Mention Everyone

Allows scheduled posts to notify the gang role selected by the server owner, even when that role is not publicly mentionable.

Limited by design

Powerful without full server access

GangCore does not need moderation or server-management powers. These permissions are not requested by the official invite:

  • No Administrator
  • No Manage Server
  • No Manage Roles
  • No Manage Channels
  • No Manage Messages
  • No Kick Members
  • No Ban Members

Channel permissions still apply

A channel-specific deny can override the bot role. Make sure GangCore can view, send and read history in each channel selected in the panel.

Panel access is separate

The server owner, or a member with Administrator or Manage Server, can open that server in the control panel. GangCore itself does not receive those permissions.
